Job Type: FulltimeJob Description:DESCRIPTIONThe CFO would be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of this medical device company’s operations. Leadership and coordination in the administrative, business and clinical planning, accounting and budgeting efforts are core dutiesPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, clinical study resourcing, tax planning, and conservation of assets- Manage fundraising processes, which may include debt and equity financing- Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company- Ensure compliance with budgetary, investor, and tax reporting requirements.- Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and investor reports- Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures- Maintain appropriate internal control safeguards- Track Research and Development expenses for the company’s clinical development and possible SRED programme participation, where applicable- Present financial and performance data to the Board of Directors- Estimate and track returns for all projects, using a total returns portfolio approach- Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.- Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards- Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems- Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas- Serve on planning and policy-making committees- Oversee financial management of foreign operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures- Other duties as assignedADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff- Work with Quality Assurance and other departments to analyze and manage company risksKNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS- Experience in strategic planning and execution- Experience in fundraising (equity and debt)- Experience in contracting, negotiating, and utilization of legal and accounting resources- Know ledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles- Know ledge of automated financial and accounting reporting and G/L systems, including their maintenance- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetingsWORKING CONDITIONSWorking conditions are normal for an office environment. Reporting directly to the VP Engineering, this role is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team of 6 to 8 personnel, coordinating and supervising the technical, financial and administrative functions of a wide range of facility projects. This will include overseeing the scoping, preliminary & detailed design, procurement, construction management and commissioning support as required.Primary Responsibilities- Manage technical personnel through the execution of multiple client projects.- Plan, coordinate and review engineering requirements and responsibilities between disciplines on projects and assignments.- Liaise between clients, support staff and third party consultants and contractors in all facets of project planning and execution as required.- Provide comprehensive engineering services according to project or assignment criteria to achieve safe, cost-effective and efficient project outcomes.- Participate in economic and technical feasibility studies for projects.- Prepare and implement specifications, cost estimations and controls, scope of equipment and materials needed, and deliverables in accordance with project requirements.- Oversee and review the development of P&IDs, PFDs, as well as other engineering drawings, calculations and project deliverables.- Participate in the development of OEL engineering standards and procedures.- Provide management and direction to drafting leads and project administration staff.Knowledge and Skill Requirements- Engineering degree from an accredited university or a Technical Diploma, with 10-15 years relevant experience.- Registration as a Professional Engineer, Professional Licencee, CET or RET with APEGGA, or ASET as applicable.- Proficient in the review and development of process and instrumentation diagrams, equipment, piping and valve sizing, as well as HAZOPs and general troubleshooting support.- Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal design codes and safety regulations.- Working knowledge of engineering software programs and solutions.- Mature experience in engineering work planning, risk management and control methods.- Strong problem solving capability.- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with personnel and clients.- Travel as required to ensure the successful execution of projects.- Ability to work and adapt in a flexible, fast-paced environment.If you are a self-starter with excellent communication and project management skills, we would be interested in hearing from you.
