Filipinos in Canada particularly those living in Toronto have a good
reason to be proud of. For the first time in the history of the Canadian
judiciary, the highest appointment ever conferred to a
Filipino-Canadian was announced this past week. Effective this 8th of
July 2013, the Hon. Judge Steve A. Coroza of the Ontario Court of
Justice in St. Catherines will be appointed judge to the Ontario
Superior Court of Justice for Brampton. This position is the highest
ever to be achieved and bestowed to a kababayan, whose parents hail from
the provinces of Batangas and Capiz, Philippines.
