Govt warned of looming water crisis

Canada immigration to eliminate 280,000 applications already in process

As many of you have heard, the Canadian Federal Immigration Minister has decided to propose legislation that will essentially eliminate thousands of applications which have been in process for years. Applications that have been filed before 2008 are known as the “backlog” cases and not under the well known “fast track” program. Applicants before 2008 were able to apply under any occupation at the time of those regulations but have been waiting for years to have their applications processed.

A team composed of 10 Filipino and 2 non-filipino kids captured gold in the recently concluded Ontario Cup provincial basketball championships held in Burlington Ontario.
The team ranked 10th overall in the province started their championship run with victories of 51-35 against Durham City West and 55-43 against North Toronto Huskies before suffering a minor setback with a loss against Scarborough Chionglo.

No Con-Gen yet in Toronto Consulate

After the last Consul-General, Pedro Chan, retired from the service last April 14, there was no official word yet, as of press time, on his replacement.  The much-loved diplomat retired after serving only 10 months in the post, replacing another veteran diplomat, Minerva Falcon, who served only a few months longer, then was designated Charge d’ Affaires of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, before also retiring from the service in September, last year.
