Imee to seek Senate reelection, denies running for Manila mayor in 2025

Sen. Imee Marcos on Monday said she is seeking reelection in the upcoming 2025 elections, denying she will run for mayor of Manila or any local government unit (LGU).

“I’m up for reelection. Despite many rumors that I’m running for Manila City mayor and other places, I will just seek reelection,” Marcos said.

However, the senator said she has not yet decided if she will run under the administration, saying they already have many senatoriables.

“I am still confused, but let us see,” Marcos said, adding there is still more time.

Meanwhile, she affirmed her support for Vice President Sara Duterte despite the latter’s resignation as secretary of the Department of Education.

“Whatever happened, my trust and love for VP Sara will remain,” Marcos said.

Asked if the Hugpong ng Pagbabago will endorse her, Marcos said the party is yet to meet. She is set to run for a second term as senator, previously serving as congresswoman and governor of Ilocos Norte.
