‘Cool lolo’ Wig Tysmans on self-care at 71

At 71 years old, legendary photographer Wig Tysmans might be the last person one would expect seeing at the stores of beauty and wellness retailer Watsons.

But he sure is a regular at the chain of stores that have earned the reputation of having everything within its walls that any customer usually end up buying more than what they were planning.

More interestingly, the proud ‘cool lolo’ is not merely waiting for his female family members to finish their shopping. Tysmans himself buys self-care essentials for his personal use.

“I used to just accompany them but now I’m the one buying for myself. While they do their grocery shopping, I’ll be at Watsons.

“I buy my grooming products and maintenance meds at Watsons. They have everything. Watsons is my go-to store,” Tysmans shared.

Tysmans is one of the faces of Himtayan Club 2024, Watsons’ campaign that spotlights the new era of men’s grooming.

Watsons caters to men of all generations by offering an extensive selection of grooming and personal care products. With deals and promotions, the brand promises that every visit will make every man feel his best.

Launched on June 16 at the Watsons SM North EDSA, host Mikee Reyes introduced Tysmans and two other personalities who shared how the brand helped them bolster their confidence as they create their routine, step up their regimen, and take charge of their health and wellness.

Watsons Gen Z newbie, court side reporter Migs Venegas, shared valuable lessons passed down to him by his Lolo, and his discovery at Watsons in building his grooming routine which led him to feel more confident.

Financial consultant and content creator, Christian Cocjin represented the busy bee yuppies and shared about navigating life changes and how Watsons helps him maintain his grooming arsenal for the daily grind.

Finally, Tysmans shared wisdom and inspiration emphasizing that self-care and healthy living are timeless values, with Watsons fulfilling his every grooming and personal care needs in any life stage.

“I’m a wash-and-wear kind of guy. I trim my beard with a small clipper and then I will do my shaving. I also use shampoo and conditioner and bar soap — I am still old school.

“But what we always impart with our children and grandchildren is that they should take care of their grooming,” Tysmans said.

“At Watsons, we embrace all men, whichever generation they’re in. This has inspired us to showcase stories of men from different generations for this year’s Himtayan Club. Our Watsons men are normalizing self-care and healthy living, and we hope they will be able to inspire others to also look good, do good, and feel great by finding products that suit their lifestyle here at Watsons,” shared Sharon Decapia, Watsons Philippines’s SAVP fir Marketing, PR and Sustainability.

“These stories are just the beginning. We remain committed to supporting every man’s journey towards a healthier, happier life,” Decapia added.

To make visits at Watsons more enjoyable for men, the store also highlighted the return of the Himtayan Lounge at Watsons SM North EDSA where visitors can take advantage of the complimentary use of Euroo massage chairs or play a round of chess while their companions shop or after shopping for their grooming gears.

Himtayan Lounge will also be roving around other Watsons branches nationwide.
