The construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is now 70 percent complete and is on the right track of being fully operational by the end of 2025, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime J. Bautista said.

“I saw the full speed construction and I’m very happy that they are completing the Quezon City leg of MRT-7 which will be operational at the end of 2025,” said Bautista during an inspection at the  MRT-7 depot at Station 6 (Batasan Station).

“I am very much impressed with how San Miguel Infrastructure has constructed all the facilities and I’m sure with all your help and hard work we should be able to open this Quezon City leg of MRT-7,” he added.

The 22-kilometer rail system has a total of 14 stations and will connect North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte in Bulacan.

It is expected to serve around 300,000 passengers a day in the first one year of operation,  and is expected to benefit workers and students.

Once completed, it is expected to reduce the travel time from Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, and vice versa, from around three hours to only 35 minutes. — Aaron Recuenco
