Go Negosyo, DoT chief lead Tourism Summit

THE Department of Tourism (DoT) and Go Negosyo teamed up once more for the Tourism Summit on May 13, bringing together over 200 of the sector’s key stakeholders, enablers, social media strategists and business leaders from various industries to discuss opportunities, emerging market trends and innovative approaches in the tourism sector.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco joined the summit as travel and tourism industry leaders discussed strategies and practices for businesses to survive in the tourism industry, as well as trends and creative solutions.

Frasco said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has prioritized effective tourism, focusing on more meaningful relations and purpose-driven travel.

“The focus has been to spread tourism development to as many destinations as possible,” Frasco said.

“We are also trying to ensure that we offer quality tourism services so that the tourists that come here stay, spend more, and come back again and again,” she added.

Frasco mentioned other Asean trends, such as wellness tourism and gastronomy.

She also promoted the Philippine Experience Heritage Culture and Arts Caravan, designated as a priority tourism program in the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP 2023-2028), the country’s tourism roadmap.

Frasco was joined by Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion and first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in presenting the Inspiring Tourism Entrepreneurs Awards, which recognize outstanding Filipino businesses that have made significant contributions to the development of the country’s tourism landscape, as well as a special citation for digital content creators and social media influencers who have promoted the country’s heritage, culture, cuisine, and destinations.
