Marcos condoles with family of 3 fishermen killed in Masinloc accident

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday extended his condolences to the families of three Filipino fishermen who died in a recent maritime accident at the Bajo de Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea.

“We are deeply saddened by the deaths of the three fishermen, including the captain of the fishing vessel. The incident is still under investigation to ascertain the details and circumstances surrounding the collision between the fishing boat and a still unidentified commercial vessel,” President Marcos said in his X (formerly Twitter) social media post.

Mr. Marcos vowed to exert every effort to hold all responsible accountable for the mishap.

“We assure the victims, their families, and everyone that we will exert every effort to hold accountable those who are responsible for this unfortunate maritime incident,” the President said.

He urged the public to let the Philippine Coast Guard do its investigation and refrain from engaging in speculation in the meantime.

President Marcos assured the government’s support and assistance to the victims and their families.

Earlier, the Philippine Coast Guard reported a ramming incident involving a Filipino fishing boat and a foreign commercial vessel in the vicinity of Bajo de Masinloc.

According to the report, the rammed boat submerged, leading to the death of three crew members including the boat captain.

The Coast Guard’s eight service boats were able to retrieve the deceased victims and 11 surviving crew members and transported them to Infanta, Pangasinan.
