ATTENTION STUDENTS: Here’s a list of scholarships you can apply for this upcoming school year

School can be costly, and not everyone has the means to afford it. That’s why earning a scholarship can make education more accessible to students and help cover expenses such as tuition fees, books, transportation, and living expenses. This financial aid not only alleviates the financial burden of pursuing education but also serves as a driving force for personal and career growth.

Below is a list of scholarships that students can apply for to support their financial needs:

1. CHED Merit Scholarship Program

The CHED’s mission is to provide quality higher education to all Filipinos. To support academically gifted students, especially those who are underprivileged, homeless, have disabilities, or are solo parents and their dependents, they have introduced the CHED Merit Scholarship Program (CMSP). This program comprises four types of assistance, categorized as the State Scholarship and Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA):

State Scholarship
Full SSP includes a stipend of P70,000 annually or P35,000 per semester; and book or connectivity allowance worth P10,000 annually or P5,000 per semester.
Half SSP includes a stipend of P35,000 annually or P17,500 per semester; and book or connectivity allowance worth P5,000 annually or P2,500 per semester.

Private Education Student Financial Assistance
Full PESFA includes tuition and other school fees worth P40,000 annually or P20,000 per semester; a stipend of P70,000 annually or P35,000 per semester; and book or connectivity allowance worth P10,000 annually or P5,000 per semester.

Half PESFA includes tuition and other school fees worth P20,000 annually or P10,000 per semester; a stipend of P35,000 annually or P17,500 per semester; and book or connectivity allowance worth P5,000 annually or P2,500 per semester.

 

2. DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship 

The aim of the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship program is to encourage and support talented Filipino students to pursue lifetime careers in Science and Technology, while ensuring a stable, sufficient supply of skilled S&T human resources that can drive the country toward national progress.

Eligibility
-Must be a Filipino citizen.
-Must be of good moral character and in good health.
-Graduating Grade 12 male and female students in SY 2023-2024:
STEM strand: All students belonging to the STEM class
Non-STEM strand: Must be in the top five percent of the graduating class
-Graduate of Grade 12 before SY 2023-2024 and did not enroll in college yet:
STEM strand: All students belonging to the STEM class
Non-STEM strand: Must be in the top five percent of the graduating class
-Graduate of high school before the K-12 Program. Must belong to the top five percent of the graduating class.
-Must not have earned any post-secondary (college or vocational) units

3. Gokongwei Brothers Foundation

The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation has been at the forefront of providing educational opportunities for Filipinos through various scholarships. For 30 years, GBF has help many people achieve their dreams and contribute to the country’s growth.

As GBF enters its new decade, it continues to reflect the Gokongwei family’s strong commitment to helping communities and the environment. Over time, the foundation has made significant progress in making a positive impact on Philippine communities, changing lives through education.

GBF TeachSTEM 

GBF TeachSTEM scholars supports aspiring and practicing educators who champion STEM in their schools and communities and offers opportunities to scholars to promote a STEM culture among Filipino learners and educational stakeholders.

GBF’s Iskolar ni Juan Tech-Voc Scholarship offers free one-year scholarships to high school graduates interested in operating industrial machines. Following that, they receive on-the-job training to become production operators or maintenance technicians at URC-BCFG.

Iskolar ni Juan Tech-Voc gives full financial support for allowance and school fees, a seven month stay-in at GBF-Technical Training Center in Calamba, Laguna, five months of on-the-Job training at any URC plant, and Employment opportunity in URC Plants after the program.

GBF STEM Scholarship for Excellence is awarded to excellent and underprivileged STEM college students from Centers of Excellence all over the country, in collaboration with the Gokongwei Group business units. These scholars show strong academics, leadership potential, community engagement, and financial need, receiving annual grants until they earn their degree.

4. Mercury Drug Foundation Inc. Scholarship

The Mercury Drug Foundation, Inc. (MDFI) is a private, non-profit organization that shows social responsibility by giving back to the loyalty of the people, which includes providing financial assistance for the marginalized sectors to receive quality education.

They give full scholarships to deserving but financially challenged students of pharmacy and Gawad Talino awardees recognized for their academic excellence in Mathematics or Science.

Eligibility:
– Deserving but financially challenged pharmacy students
Be on their last two years of study, enrolled in a partner pharmacy school of MDFI;
Have a general weighted average (GWA) of 2.5 (80 percent) and above.
